About us

The Fluid Mechanics and Combustion Modeling Group is included in the Department of Energy at Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT). The Unit is currently formed by six members:

Five members are PhD with ample expertise in the numerical simulation of reactive and non-reactive flows. One member is a PhD candidate with expertise in incompressible flows in porous media. Our main objective is to enhance fundamental understanding of the physicochemical processes occurring in combustion and fluid mechanics. We use numerical simulation capabilities and analytical methods to provide understanding of physical first principles and predict its behavior. Some of the Group's research lines include:

The results are regularly published in high-impact journals in the field of combustion and fluid mechanics. The assistance to national and international conferences, where the impact of the results are presented, is a pillar key of the Unit. The Group also maintains fruitful collaboration with international groups:

We also maintain collaboration with other national research groups at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, UNED, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad de Zaragoza, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Unidad de Modelización y Ecotoxicidad de la Contaminación Atmosférica del CIEMAT.
